Dr. Tyler Alexander, Principal

Dr. Tyler Alexander began his career in education as a teacher and coach at Blue Valley Southwest High School. During his time there, he taught multiple social studies and AP courses and served as department chair.

He began his administrative career at Blue Valley Northwest High School, where he held several leadership roles over six years before returning to Blue Valley Southwest as assistant principal. He was later named principal of Blue Valley Southwest. In 2026, he returned to Blue Valley Northwest as principal.

Alexander earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education from MidAmerica Nazarene University, a master's degree in PreK-12 educational administration from Emporia State University and a doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Kansas.

He is supported by his wife, Kelley, a library media specialist at Morse Elementary, and their two children. Their son, Graham, is a student at Morse Elementary, and their daughter, Olivia, also attends Morse Elementary.

Michael Richards serves as assistant principal and athletic director at Blue Valley Northwest High School. He began his career in Blue Valley in 2016 as a science teacher at Oxford Middle School before moving to BVNW to teach freshman biology and earth/space science. He later served as assistant principal at Leawood Middle School for two years before returning to Blue Valley Northwest in his current role.
